LOVE NEST Pendant

Just finished this piece - which is an achievement since I am mainly felting soap full time at the moment!

I've called it LOVE NEST - as the lower part has 'love' etched onto it and the top crochet wire makes it look like a bird's nest, especially with all the fiber inside.

Its made from merino wool, pink silk fibers, Fair Trade resin orange ring from Indonesia, base metal, sterling silver, fuschia chalk turquoise, Faux bone, chocolate brown pearls, spinel, amethyst, seed beads, copper (etched) and mica powders.

Length - about 13.5cm (approx 5 inches).

My first attempt at crochet with wire and my fingers are ok after!

First attempt at crocheting with wire? Coool! I still have to dare to do that one. As always your work is gorgeous Vicky. Actually, I haven't seen work like yours. Does anyone else do work like yours? I don't know anyone else. Its always such a treat to the eyes. I often love to just sit and go through your website or your blog. But I have already told you that. lol.

You are gorgeous Swati - thanks so much. You make me feel very positive about things.
I had to laugh, I'm trying to crochet some more wire now on something and its going really badly, maybe my first time was a fluke?
Someone on JAN forum said to give it a try and said to look at work by Arline Fisch. She has some amazing stuff.
Thanks again Swati!

It is so intricate. So much detail. So beautifully executed. I can only think you have very steady hands and a good eye. (along with all that design talent.)

LOL! I make you feel positive? You are a positive person yourself! I want to try the crocheting with wire one of these days. Hehehe! Will let you know when I am brave. Right now I am having a hard time crocheting with yarn! hahahaha! Arline Fisch? If I google her, I'll find her? You know, I hardly ever wear jewelry, but one day I will buy something from you...one of your ornate colorful pendants you make. One day I will treat myself to it...just because its an artwork I'd like to have. And I'll wear it and feel good. I am working very hard at losing weight. It will be a reward for me...

Thanks Tammy & thanks Luarna!

The crochet cupcakes were from a pattern in a UK magazine - which I've lent to someone. Will copy it for you when I get it back!
